NEW Vintage 1960's Embroidered Navy Blue Jacket Blouse

Elegant, crisp, fitted jacket circa 1960's in Navy blue. Can be worn as a jacket with a camisole or alone as a fitted shirt. This rare designer piece brings sophisticated structure to dresses and jeans alike. 

An unusual bestiary of giraffes, elephants, baboons and rhinos are embroidered on the jacket. The fabric is a very lightweight, lustrous silk shantung like poly and the lining is silk.

Do You Believe It?

It's the third week in February.
Time has been moving like greased lightning and molasses all at the same time. Is this what February has always been like and I just never notice it before?

Changes are coming sooner than I want to think - big changes. After a great deal of angst, I had to tell my roommate and long time friend to move out.


On an up note, my favorite niece is getting married in August. I want to make her the most beautiful jewelry to wear and have been scouring Etsy's DIY wedding shops for accessories and ideas. LOL, I'm turning her into a big Etsy fan this year!

Wild Things I

It's amazing what you can and cannot see about a piece when you photograph it.  Yikes!  LOL...  Okay, I NEVER claimed to be a photographer. Clearly I need a better camera or a clos(er) up lens.  This camera advertised close up capability but forgot to say - If yah wanna get real details you have to be satisfied with the chic blurry look. Oh well... live and learn.

Tiny meltdown.... Breathing deeply, 1,2,3,4,5,6... I am not defeated! I am not defeated! Everything happens for a reason! Everything Happens for a reason! I am exactly where I need to Be. I am exactly where I need to be, I am exactly where I need to be.....    Breathing, breathing, calm, cal, calmer now....

Back on track... in addition to taking bad pics and seeing a couple of flaws, courtesy of my new friend, the all seeing camera, a wing broke off one of my little birds ( a new clay I was trying out). Ouch! Better now than later, eh?

Uhm... I'm going to have a bubble bath and relax and allow the next steps to emerge. It's all good! The brooches will have to become pendants because the pin backs were defective and a new bird will have to be made. That's all there is to it... No problems.

HERE COMES THE LOVE...

Finally, some new pieces are finished; I am taking pictures and will list them as quickly as possible. I had lots of fun making a series of  seven brooches. Each one evoked a song or triggered a story from the imagination. I see I'm going to have lots of fun for a long while... the new theme is LOVE ~ my favorite thing!

Love is definitely in the air here. My favorite niece and her fiance (who live on the West coast and were mentioned in my store post)  have finally set the date and she is all abuzz with her DIY Indie/Boho Wedding plans. She sounds sooooo happy, which in turn makes me soooo happy. I feel honored that she calls almost every day (I live on the East coast) to fill me in on what's happening and to consult with me about the arrangements. I've really enjoy pouring through the internet looking at venues, wedding dresses, shoes, cakes, flowers and all the other accoutrements one considers when planning such a great event. I find I can't even go to the supermarket now without thinking about  food for the wedding! I was at Michael's craft store the other day just to get "a couple of things" and spent almost three hours looking at every single thing that might be able to be used to decorate.  I'm lucky I got away with my credit cards intact.

This wonder-filled experience has certainly gotten me into the Valentine's Day spirit!

Here is my first Valentine piece for 2011 ~  Naturally it's a heart - a brooch in fact
I've called it "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" after the title of a song written and sung by the Bee Gees in 1971.  Hum the tune a little as you look at the heart, you'll see what I mean. It is a simple raw sentiment presented with a simple solution.

Awww, get out your sewing needles ladies, give him another chance. If he's a little slow on the uptake, send him the link to the store as a hint.  Who knows, you may end up with a dozen red long stemmed roses and some steamy make-up romance this Valentine's Day!

The heart  it measures 2"x2", has a metal pin back; and will arrives gift wrapped with a little gift card tag inside with the lyrics printed on it.

1976 Jim Beam Vintage Fishing Hall of Fame "Behold the Angler" Porcelain Decanter Bottle

 Great gift for an avid trout fisherman!  Porcelain decanter and cork are fully intact and in mint condition.

The seal on the front of the bottle is outlined in gold. A gold trout is centered in the middle of the circle flying high over a building. Gold lettering circles the seal and occupies the center. The lettering states: Official Seal, National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame, Inc., Conservation Sportsmanship, Behold the Angler, Hayward Wisconsin.

On the bottom of the bottle raised letters in porcelain say, © Creation of James B Beam Distilling Co., KY-DRB-230, Genuine Regal China 1976, C. Miller, Regal China Corporation, 145, Liquor Bottle. There are the initials DHN in the lower right hand corner on the bottom.

Amost Back...

Caught a "super bug" two weeks before Christmas and it has not completely left my body yet - It's a little gift that just keeps on giving; the minute I think it's over, here it comes again!  Yikes. I hate being sick, especially when it gets to the point where I can't work.

I am champing at the bit to get back to work and am looking forward to the full return of energy. Ideas for new pieces have been weaving their ways in and out of the buggy delirium. LOL, I've made them all in my dreams. It's been a strange trip - this buggy sojourn -certainly one I won't mind returning from sooner than later.
